So, I am finally back in the beautiful "Tree City" known as Kent in the Great State of Ohio. What an amazing 5 days the past few have been. 1064.5 miles have been driven in my beautiful 1986 BMW 735i. I am quite surprised as to how well she took the entire trip, but at the same time I should have never underestimated her abilities. 20 hours and 50 minutes were spent in the car with a total of 18 hours and 19 minutes spent moving. Maximum speed was 121 mph which was completed in the Pennsylvania mountains. The overall moving average was 58.1 miles per hour. Remember, these numbers also included the other tooling around that we did.
So, where did we go? Thursday we went to New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ. New Hope is a little hippie town situated near the Delaware River where General Washington crossed the river during the Revolutionary War. Quite an amazing sight to say the least. New Hope has a bunch of little hippie stores including a lot of vintage clothing. I bought a corn cob pipe at a little Cuban Cigar and tobacco store. I also bought a little Cuban swag to go along with my new pipe. Quite tasty and very smooth. Probably some of the smoothest tobacco I have ever smoked in my life. We went to a studio that has the artwork of John Lennon and Jerry Garcia, among many other musicians. John Lennon's artwork was shit compared to Jerry Garcia. Anyways, it was awe inspiring for sure. While at the studio the guy who owned it talked to us for a good hour. He recommended we cross the Delaware and walk into Lambertville, NJ to a local brewery, the River Horse. Great idea if I must say so myself.
There is more so you should read on…
Later that night, we went to the midnight showing of the new Batman movie, Dark Night. Fucking beyond amazing. I can't even explain how fucking sweet it was. Heath Ledger is (I mean was) an amazing actor. I didn't know he was capable of such a fine piece of work. I've said it before and I will say it again, what a fucking waste. The guy is going to win an Oscar and he is dead. He fucked up hardcore. Snorting Ambien? Seriously? Fucking swallow the pill. You go to sleep. You don't need to snort it. I have a prescription for it and I have never had the urge to snort the fucking shit. I may have joked about it, but that is as far as I ever took it. Anyways, back to the movie. Simply amazing. The scene where The Joker slides down a huge pile of millions and lights it all on fire was fucking sick shit. God damn, he wasted his life and left behind a daughter. I'm going to be seeing the movie a few more times while it is still out in the theaters. And I can't wait for it to be in HD. Shit son.
The next day, Friday, we drove to the Jersey Shore. It was hot as balls to say the least. I sweat my balls off. It cost $7.00 to swim in the ocean. In Belmar, NJ you have to buy a swimming pass to be able to swim in the ocean. Crazy, I know. But I guess looking back on it was worth it. I didn't expect the waves that were there. They ended up being pretty massive. After swimming for about an hour, we stopped in a bar to drink some nice fresh refreshing Coors drafts. Yummy delicious those were. And get this, we needed a shirt to get drunk! After a little bit of that, we slobbed on the cob a bit and went back out into the ocean. This time around things were a lot more fun. I swam out pretty far. The life guard on duty blew his wistle a whole b8unch but I ignored it. I can swim. But the rip tide was a little strong. Next thing I know, I am all but 20 feet away from some massive rocks. It was pretty impossible to get away from the rocks. After a good ten minutes and a lot of freaking out, I managed to get away from the rocks. Hahah. Funny part about it all is that the life guard came out to get everyone else away form the rocks. I was a whole lot closer than the people he came and got, but by the time he came out, I had managed to get away from that rip tide.
Saturday we took the train/subway into Manhattan. I might wait until tomorrow to tell you about all that. Yeah, I think I'm going to.
Enough vacation talk for now.
